Beyond the Hills has been selected in the 56th edition of the London International Film Festival (10-21 October), the most impressive and long lasting festival in the United Kingdom to present every year, the most important film productions to be released in theatres and in various film festivals.
Beyond the Hills has been included in the „Journey” BFI section, which is dedicated to those films powerful enough to change the perspective over the world. Cristian Mungiu will be attending the screening to meet the public and the British press. At the begining of 2013, Artificial Eye, the same distributor of 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days, will be releasing the film in the United Kingdom. In May 2012, Beyond the Hills won the best screenplay award and the best actress award, shared by both actresses Cosmina Stratan and Cristina Flutur – at the Cannes Film Festival.
In late August this year, Beyond the Hills won the best film award at Vukovar Film Festival, prize that included a support for the film distribution in Croatia.
In Romania, the film will have it’s avant-premiere in Vaslui, on the 21st of September. Beyond the Hills is inspired by the non-fiction novels of Tatiana Niculescu Bran, having as starting point the real events that took place in that region.
Concomitantly, the film will have a screening in Câmpina, the city where the most part of the filming took place.
In Bucharest, the film will be screened for the first time during Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest festival, on the 25th of October.
Beyond the Hills is the Romanian candidate for next year`s Academy Awards for Best Foreign Film.
